Dr. Camilla Gamba is an English-speaking psychotherapist based in Milan, Italy.

About me

Hello, my name is Dr. Camilla Gamba.

I’m an Italian-American psychotherapist working in Milan, Italy, helping people overcome depression and anxiety so that they can get back to living fulfilling lives.

I also support people who are dealing with grief and bereavement, have experienced a traumatic event, or are struggling to adjust to a new life.

In addition to working with individuals, I help couples who are experiencing challenges in their relationship. In couples therapy we work on effective communication, conflict resolution, and strengthening their emotional connection so that the relationship can move forward and grow. And for those couples who feel that they’ve explored all other avenues, I offer my support through the difficult process of separation.

I offer counselling and psychotherapy in English as well as Italian.

i am here to help

Psychotherapy can be a wonderful journey that leads you back to feeling good about yourself and the world around you. Through therapy you can gain insight into your character and your potential for growth. I’ll help you understand how to manage difficult emotions and I’ll support you in making any changes you feel you need to make. In this process of change and discovery you will also find yourself able to establish more meaningful and fulfilling relationships.

If you are ready to start exploring what has gotten you stuck and what you can do to move forward, I am here to help. You can book your first session to get started.

And if you're not sure if therapy is right for you, you can check out this link on starting therapy, or you can get in touch with any question you may have.

My “Multi-Cultural” Story

I was born in Italy, daughter of an Italian father and an American mother. I grew up moving between Milan and California, getting a first-hand experience of what it’s like to belong to two different “worlds”.

I also spent five years in London as an “expat”, which gave me further insights into the challenges and rewards of having to adjust to a new culture.

who i work with

The people who reach out to me come from all over the world: they’ve moved to Italy for work, for love, to study or to follow a dream...but they’ve gotten stuck along the way and need someone to reach out to.

Moving to a new country can be very exciting and empowering.

At the same time, it can also be lonely, scary and overwhelming: being away from friends and loved ones, feeling like a “fish out of water”, realising that your new life isn’t what you’d imagined and not knowing what the future holds for you...All this can take a toll on your mental health and your relationships.

A non-biased, experienced professional who can listen and understand what you are going through can give you a sense of relief and offer guidance on how you can cope and move forward.

If you’re an expat living in Italy and want to find out more about my services, please get in touch - I look forward to hearing from you.

training and experience

In 1999 I moved from California to study Psychology in Milan, Italy, and graduated in 2005; I continued my training in London until 2011, then moved back to Milan for my specialisation in transcultural psychotherapy.

Over the years I focused my training on helping people recover from grief and trauma, overcome depression, manage stress and anxiety, and fix their broken relationships.

I trained in systemic family therapy, gaining the tools to help people put an end to dysfunctional family dynamics and learn how to communicate and resolve conflicts more effectively.

I also trained in the treatment of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, working to help asylum-seekers and refugees recover from traumatic experiences.

In 2012 I began my training in transcultural psychotherapy, learning how to apply clinical interventions in culturally-sensitive ways. This training has allowed me to appreciate the wealth of people’s cultural backgrounds, belief-systems, and values, making me grateful to be able to offer help in the form of psychotherapy to “expats” living in Italy.
