About me and my work

MULTICULTURAL BACKGROUND

I grew up in a mixed culture Italian-American household, and have lived in the United States, Italy, and the U.K.

I’ve always been passionate about learning from different cultures, and trained in transcultural psychotherapy.

This broadened understanding of human beings has helped me appreciate the importance of keeping therapy open to topics such as cultural background, traditions, values, race and ethnicity, religion and spirituality, roles and identity.

Trauma and Resilience Informed Therapy

In my years of working with people seeking political asylum, I have become particularly sensitive to the effects of grief and trauma on one’s psyche. I have also been amazed by the resilience that human beings have to overcome and grow from trauma. I bring this experience in my work with anyone who has experienced loss or trauma in their lives.

Relationships and Group-Work

I strongly believe in the positive impact of healthy relationships and community bonds, and support all my clients to nurture authentic connections with others, be it through individual therapy, couple’s therapy, or group workshops.

Eco-Therapy

Current research on mental health is bringing to light the powerful benefits of connecting to nature. At the same time we are witnessing a growing sense of grief and anxiety around the devastating effects of climate change. In recent years I’ve merged my work as a psychologist with my passion for nature, working to help others connect to nature and navigate the difficult feelings around the changes happening in our environment.

Positive Psychology

When given the right support, information and tools, human beings have the potential to become bearers of creativity, positive action, and mutual support. By sharing my knowledge and experience of psychology, I hope to help others leverage the amazing potential of the human mind so they can make positive contributions in the communities they inhabit.
